EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – The UConn Huskies shattered their previous records, rushing for a FBS school record of 421 yards as they dominated the Florida Atlantic Owls 48-14 in front of 20,144 fans at Pratt & Whitney Stadium. This staggering ground attack was headlined by redshirt freshman Durell Robinson and junior Mel Brown, each amassing 156 rushing yards, marking the first time since 2019 two Huskies rushed for over 100 yards in a game.
UConn's offense was relentless, accumulating 542 total yards and securing 32 first downs without ever punting. Redshirt sophomore Nick Evers contributed significantly with both his legs and arms, running for 78 yards and two touchdowns while completing nine out of 14 passing attempts for 88 yards and an additional touchdown. On the defensive side, senior linebacker Tui Faumuina-Brown spearheaded a unit that limited Florida Atlantic to a season-low of 250 total yards, including just 87 through the air.
Florida Atlantic, despite showcasing their tempo offense and achieving ten takeaways across the season, struggled to find a rhythm against the Huskies. CJ Campbell Jr. provided the lone bright spots for the Owls with two rushing touchdowns, including an impressive 38-yard breakaway in the fourth quarter. However, their efforts were thwarted by UConn's well-coordinated defensive schemes and a crucial interception by linebacker Jayden McDonald, which set up a field goal drive extending UConn's lead to 27-0.
