In the opening week of the 2024 season, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers dominated the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, securing a 55-27 victory in their nationally televised season opener. Playing at Burgess-Snow Field at AmFirst Stadium, the Chanticleers set a program record for the most points in a season opener, surpassing their previous best of 52 points in 2021.
Coastal took control early, establishing a 21-point lead by halftime thanks to a balanced offensive attack and numerous defensive takeaways. Quarterback Ethan Vasko, in only his fifth collegiate start, excelled by throwing for 249 yards and rushing for a touchdown.
