However, Iowa's offense kicked into gear, scoring 41 unanswered points, including two passing touchdowns from Cade McNamara.
The Hawkeyes' defense was relentless, causing multiple turnovers and forcing Western Michigan into difficult positions. Iowa's ground game was also effective, with Leshon Williams rushing for 145 yards. The Hawkeyes sealed the victory with a rushing touchdown by Max White in the final moments of the game.
