The Rice Owls triumphed over the Charlotte 49ers with a final score of 28-7. Rice struck early with a 5-yard rushing touchdown by AJ Padgett, followed by Tim Horn's 23-yard field goal. The Charlotte offense struggled, gaining only 74 passing yards and 84 rushing yards.
In the second half, Padgett scored another rushing touchdown and completed a 20-yard passing touchdown to Luke McCaffrey. Charlotte managed a 12-yard rushing touchdown by Trexler Ivey, but it wasn't enough to overcome Rice's dominant performance. Defensive plays, including two interceptions by Charlotte, provided brief hope, but Rice's offensive efficiency sealed their victory.
